The Dancer 2013

18 MAY 2015 The British Ballet Organization (BBO) is today delighted to announce that it has secured new headquarters for the organisation, with a 999-year lease on a river-fronted 10,000 square foot facility in south west London.

Before the official opening, the new building will undergo a comprehensive fit-out to a bespoke design created especially for the BBO. The headquarters will comprise office space for the organisation, and two fully-sprung dance studios with changing facilities. In addition there will be a lecture room, a physio and medical suite, a library and BBO archives, as well as meeting and conference facilities, and a cafe and terrace with views onto the Thames.

The project is currently in the planning stages and all work is due to be completed by 1 November 2015, becoming the main administrative headquarters for the organisation. It will also provide facilities to deliver the BBO teacher training programme on-site, a base for all future syllabus development and a home for all BBO members, creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

The move comes after more than 80 years based at Woolborough House, the Edwardian villa that was the original home of the Espinosa family. The new headquarters will provide the BBO with modern facilities that are fit for purpose in a fantastic location. The organisation will always be grateful for the support of Tandy Muir-Warden and her colleagues at the Espinosa Memorial Fund in making the move possible. This will now provide the platform to fulfil our future ambitions.

Nicholas Espinosa
Chairman of the British Ballet Organization
